Last week the washing machine broke...again. Marcus took it apart twice in an attempt to fix it. He had out his tools of course and was just working away when Kailey came in to see what was going on. He told her he was fixing the washing machine. Kailey looked at him, looked at the tools and then very clearly said, "Handy Manny!" Talk about funny and an ego boost for Marcus...I mean Handy Manny. Only Marcus doesn't know Spanish, doesn't have talking tools, and couldn't fix the washing machine...that night at least.
Never fear though, the next night with the right parts, Marcus was able to get the machine fixed. (THANK GOODNESS!) I was at my wits end with Kailey, so Marcus had her "help him" with the repair work. It was too cute hearing him telling her to hold this, keep holding it, don't drop it, etc. She really thought she was helping him out. The best part came when he was reassembling the machine, which involved a lot of banging. It was noisy for so long that I had to go check out what was going on. I walk into the bathroom to find only Kailey banging on the side of the washing machine with Marcus telling her what a great help she was. I guess Kailey had seen Marcus banging on the sides to get them in place, so wanting to help, Kailey started banging too. Ahh, two Handy Mannys in the familey.
Never fear, the story doesn't end there. For the past few nights of washing machine construction, the bathtub had been out of service because that was where the wet-vac was. Well, Kailey hates vacumn cleaners and was not happy that one had taken up residence in her tub. She had even told Jill all about the "machine" and "vacumn" using those words over and over as if Grandma would understand that there was a vacumn in her bathtub because of the washing machine. She had to take showers for a few nights, which she liked, but apparently she was NOT going to have one the night after the washing machine was fixed. When we got home that night, she was so freaked out about the "machine" and "vacumn" saying them over and over. It was like she knew that the machine was fixed and there was NO reason why the vacumn was still in her tub. Anyhoo, she was so freaked out about it and crying, telling us vacumn away, that we had to go up and take the vacumn out of the tub and put it back in the garage before she would eat her dinner. She ate super quick and then wanted to immediately get in the tub for a bath. It didn't matter that it was only 6:30. Once she was in the tub, all was right in her world. And since the washing machine was fixed by Handy Manny, all was right in mommy's world too.
